Determining the total amount of carbs that are in your foods is paramount.  Newly diagnosed individuals with often think that actual sugar is the only ingrediant that can raise their , however this is not true.  Foods that are high in starchs/carbs like white breads, pretzels and pasta can and will raise your blood sugars as well…it’s not just candy!  You see, carbs get converted by your metabolism to sugar.  When shopping for foods that contain carbohydrates try not to buy anything that contains 10 grams of total carbs (shoot for less if you can).  Remember the lower the carbs the better your sugar levels will be.

type 2 does not shorter your life spam if you learn to control it and keep you weight at a appropriate weight. to keep your self active and eating healthy foods will do the trick. and it wont, because you can live the same as a normal person.

Well glycogen stimulates the liver to release glucose in the blood stream. It's only given when a diabetic person has fallen unconscious from low blood sugar.

Insulin is the hormone injected day-to-day to lower blood sugar levels. Type 1 diabetics rely soley on this to manage their conditoin. Not all type 2 diabetics use it, most use meds, diet and exercise.
